Step 3. What type of video output does your laptop have?
Look on the back and sides of your laptop computer to see what type of video outputs are available. Laptop computers will have at least a VGA or S-Video output. Some newer laptops may have a DVI or HDMI output.
Below are pictures of the four most common video outputs found on laptop computers. Select the one you have or want to use.
HDMI - High-Definition Multimedia Interface. For the technical details follow this link to Wikipedia. Newer laptops may have a HDMI output.
S-Video. Separated Video or Super Video. Read all about it here. S-Video will not provide the the high quality image that VGA, DVI or HDMI can provide on a HD TV.
