Return to Solution

I want to use a DVI to HDMI cable.

Step 4 - Configure this solution.

Connect the DVI end of the cable to your laptop's DVI output and the HDMI end to your HD TVs HDMI input. Plug the 3.5mm to RCA audio cable into your computer's speaker out and into the audio in on the TVs HDMI input or into you home theater system. Set the TV to the HDMI input and turn on the laptop.

Next you must set your laptop to display to the TV. On many laptops if you reboot with a video output cable plugged in, the computer will detect the TV and output to it automatically. If not, every laptop will have a method of changing the display device using either a control panel or a function key combination. Consult your laptops user's guide to find the proper method.

Depending on your HD TV and laptop you will be able to set either a 720 or 1080 resolution. Consult the manuals that came with your laptop and HD TV to set it to the optimal resolution.
